Ivins Fitness Festival

Ivins Fitness Festival 2012

The Ivins Fitness Festival is an event that came into being because UNITY Park is the official viewing location for the bicycle portion of Ironman St. George, in fact, the original Ironman course was changed so that the race would come into Ivins. On Saturday, May 5, when Ivins City hosts the third annual Ivins Fitness Festival, we plan to focus more on the riders and supporting them and cheering them than we have in the past. We are planning to bring all of our activities, vendors, entertainment and music closer to the participants so that they know that people are there supporting them in this incredible physical feat they are involved in.

Schedule of Events:

6:30 a.m. – Free 4 Mile Fun Run – this is a true fun run, no t-shirts or timing just running for the health of it. There will be refreshments for all runners. We still need you to register if you plan to run.

9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.– Activities in the park will include: watching riders as they fly by, demonstrations by former Biggest Loser contestants, Tennis Demonstrations, Free Throw competition, Two Ball tournament, bounce house, slides, climbing wall, healthy vendors and food.

See site for road closure/traffic information:  http://www.ivins.com/home/festivalscelebrations-a-events

IRONMAN, St. George, Utah 2012

This is the last year for a full Ironman in St. George, Utah.  Hereafter the event will become an Ironman 70.3.  The main two reasons cited have been first the early date in the Ironman season leaves little time to train for the event.  This is compounded by the St. George course being among one of the most challenging in the world.   St. George LOVES the Ironman event and are looking forward to the continued partnership.  Good luck athletes.

From the Ironman Website:

Ironman 70.3 St. George 2013

For those staying with the Best Western Coral Hills we now have a full hot breakfast and it will be served the day of the race at 3:30am.  We will also have information available at the front office regarding road closures and area activities and events.  Welcome, welcome back and have a safe and wonderful race!

Hairspray at Tuacahn

HairSpray at Tuacahn, near St. George, UT

For more than six years on Broadway and in the popular 2007 film adaptation, Hairspray delighted audiences the world over by transporting them to a candy-colored 1960’s Baltimore, where the 50’s are out—and change is definitely in the air. Now this throw-back to the classic musicals of yesterday comes to Tuacahn for the very first time.

Tracy Turnblad, the loveable plus-size heroine at the center of the story, has an unstoppable passion for dancing, and—much to her delight—she wins a spot on the local TV dance program, “The Corny Collins Show.” Virtually overnight she finds herself transformed from teenage outsider to local celebrity. But can this larger-than-life adolescent manage to defeat the program’s reigning princess, integrate the television show, and find true love (singing and dancing all the while, of course!) without mussing her hair?

Hairspray is a high-energy musical comedy featuring vibrant costumes, toe-tapping music, fabulous dance numbers, and a whole lot of heart. This award-winning musical homage to one of the greatest eras of American music will truly delight old and young alike.

Call dirct now for package rates that include the room and show tickets.

St. George Parade of Homes has Shuttle Service

St George Parade of Homes

WASHINGTON COUNTY – The St. George Area 22nd Annual Parade of Homes begins tomorrow.  The City of St. George and St. George Shuttle have collaborated to provide Tour Coach service to Paraders, in zones reaching all of the homes. Here’s what you need to know:

Tour Coaches (each seating 25-30 people) will run three times a day on Friday – Monday, Feb. 17-20, and again on Friday – Sunday, Feb. 24-26, departing at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. from the former St. George Municipal Airport
located at 620 S. Airport Rd., in St. George.

The shuttle tickets cost $25 and are good for any days of the Parade that the service runs.

Service areas are divided into five zones, each taking about three hours to cover. Thus, logistically, two zones may be covered in a day.

Shuttle Tickets may be purchased and booked directly on the St. George Shuttle website, by telephone to St. George Shuttle at 435-628-8320, by visiting the St. George Shuttle office at 790 S Bluff St., St. George, or at the point of departure at the old airport.  They may also be purchased at the Red Cliffs Mall and any Lin’s Grocery store, where Parade Tickets are being sold.

Seating is subject to availability, so parading shuttlers are urged to purchase tickets and book their zones early and to arrive at least 15 minutes early of departure time.

Those with children 5 and younger must provide their own car seat / booster seat to ride, the seats may be left on the tour bus while visiting the homes.

Parade tickets cost $12.50 and go on sale this evening at the Red Cliffs Mall and Lin’s markets.  They can also be purchased anytime today and following at the St. George Shuttle office on Bluff Street.  Cost of parade tickets is separate from cost of the Shuttle’s coach tour service for the Parade.

The Dogfather will be vending hot dogs, chips and drinks at the tour’s point of departure at the old airport. Thus, shuttling paraders can grab a meal as they depart or shift coaches for a second zone.  Restrooms will also be available there.
