Remember Your Kids ‘n Stuff

Remember Your Children

This will be the last sign you see as you leave the Best Western Coral Hills (St. Goerge, Utah).  It reads: “PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR CELL PHONE CHARGERS, PILLOWS AND CHILDREN“.

The most forgotten items that guests forget are their cell phone chargers and pillows.  To our knowledge, no one has ever forgotten their children but… just to be safe.  At the least, we hope it helps to start the day with light chuckle and a smile on the face.  (The reason for the smile is of course subjective.)

For guests yet to stay with us: Weclome!

For those who have stayed with us: Thank you, please come again, and let us know of anything we can improve on for next time.

BEST WESTERN CORAL HILLS #3

YEEEAHAAAA, YAHOOO! AWESOME!
I walked into my office this morning and went about the usual beginning of day routine: talk to the night audit, the breakfast crew, check guests out, check e-mails, voice mails, and daily book keeping, and bri…ng up the various websites. And there it was, in all its splendor and glory on the TripAdvisor website in black and white…and color. The Best Western Coral Hills rose from #4 to #3 out of the 45 Southern Utah/St. George hotels!
This is not small feat. This is monumental, this is HUGE! The properties that have been holding the #1, #2 and #3 spots have done so for the past year and are fierce competitors, are great properties and each has a great staff (almost as good as ours). So to rise up to #3 is AWESOME! I fully expected to wait another year before we would get ahead. WOW, I’ve been elated all day! TripAdvisor rankings can sometimes be fickle but for now, for today at least…WE’RE NUMBER THREE, WE’RE NUMBER THREE!!!!! I am so pleased with this staff, they deserve KUDOS! I was thinking we get one of those huge hoagies and share it for lunch. To tame or lame, how would YOU recommend we thank them?

S.R. 14, Cedar Breaks, Opens Memorial Day Weekend!

Today May 24th, S.R. 14 is finally opening to allow traffic through to Cedar Breaks abd Duck Creek Village.  The Southern Utah community has been looking forward to this since last October when a massive landslide wiped out 800 feet of the popular scenic roadway.

The road will not yet be paved so motorists will be traveling on road base (dirt/gravel) during this time. The road will open at 3:00pm on Thursday, May 24, and will remain open until 7:00am on Tuesday, May 29. After that time, the road will be closed during the day and opened each night from 7:00pm to 7:00am, except on Friday when the road will open at 5:00pm and remain open through the weekend until Monday at 7:00am. This will continue to be the schedule now through the month of July.

Distant view of SR 14 in October 2011.

Thank you UDOT for moving all of that!

St. George Parade of Homes has Shuttle Service

St George Parade of Homes

WASHINGTON COUNTY – The St. George Area 22nd Annual Parade of Homes begins tomorrow.  The City of St. George and St. George Shuttle have collaborated to provide Tour Coach service to Paraders, in zones reaching all of the homes. Here’s what you need to know:

Tour Coaches (each seating 25-30 people) will run three times a day on Friday – Monday, Feb. 17-20, and again on Friday – Sunday, Feb. 24-26, departing at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. from the former St. George Municipal Airport
located at 620 S. Airport Rd., in St. George.

The shuttle tickets cost $25 and are good for any days of the Parade that the service runs.

Service areas are divided into five zones, each taking about three hours to cover. Thus, logistically, two zones may be covered in a day.

Shuttle Tickets may be purchased and booked directly on the St. George Shuttle website, by telephone to St. George Shuttle at 435-628-8320, by visiting the St. George Shuttle office at 790 S Bluff St., St. George, or at the point of departure at the old airport.  They may also be purchased at the Red Cliffs Mall and any Lin’s Grocery store, where Parade Tickets are being sold.

Seating is subject to availability, so parading shuttlers are urged to purchase tickets and book their zones early and to arrive at least 15 minutes early of departure time.

Those with children 5 and younger must provide their own car seat / booster seat to ride, the seats may be left on the tour bus while visiting the homes.

Parade tickets cost $12.50 and go on sale this evening at the Red Cliffs Mall and Lin’s markets.  They can also be purchased anytime today and following at the St. George Shuttle office on Bluff Street.  Cost of parade tickets is separate from cost of the Shuttle’s coach tour service for the Parade.

The Dogfather will be vending hot dogs, chips and drinks at the tour’s point of departure at the old airport. Thus, shuttling paraders can grab a meal as they depart or shift coaches for a second zone.  Restrooms will also be available there.
