When lodging at Coral Hills, Zion National Park is only a 45-minute drive. Named for an ancient Hebrew word meaning “sanctuary” or “place of refuge,” Zion contains some of the most fantastic scenery in the western United States, from hanging gardens to natural arches to towering sandstone monoliths. The greatest biological showcase in the state of Utah, Zion features landscapes that range from lush greenery to harsh deserts. The park’s most visited area is Zion Canyon, which contains the park’s most famous landmarks and several short trails appropriate for the entire family, including Weeping Rock, Emerald Pools and Riverside Walk.
Zion Canyon is not the only place to visit in Zion National Park while lodging at Best Western Coral Hills. Approximately 32 miles up I-15 from St. George is the Kolob Canyons section, a less-crowded but no less spectacular option than Zion Canyon. The northwestern corner of the park, Kolob Canyons features a small visitor center, a five-mile scenic drive and several trails, including the short Timber Creek Overlook at the end of the scenic drive or the Middle Fork of Taylor Creek approximately two miles from the visitor center. The Taylor Creek Trail follows a stream through a narrow canyon past two historic cabins to a double arch alcove, which features multicolored, water-streaked sandstone and hanging gardens.
